The Mothers of Gods -Aysi

The thing about Gods is we’re a selfish, vain group of beings. All of this power and knowing and seeing gets old. Benevolence this, holy that, pure and true here and there is all thick hogwash.

Gods are the furthest thing from holiness. Pigs are cleaner. Gods have intentions. Agendas. Deals must be made. Benevolent Gods are self-serving, self-seeking beings. Humans are mere entertainment. Something we have to go through to get our agendas pushed through. Too bad the humans don’t know that there’s no such thing as a sacrificial God. Meaning: there is no god that will take their pain and make it their own. Gods don’t absorb anything at all. Not even other gods.

Where will the pain go? Gods have no body in which to hold physical or emotional pain. That’s the whole purpose of humans, they get to be gods with skin. The best we can do is transfer it to another human. No different than what they do with each other when they can no longer hold it. We make deals to move it around. To try to prevent some things from ever happening so as to not lose the human altogether.

When there’s no pain to feel or navigate through there’s only restlessness to contend with. It’s how gods find trouble along the way, that god is bored. That particular god finds a human that piques their interest, which is very hard to do, and they play games that will affect them.

Humans want material wealth, power, beauty – things that only matter to other humans. Something to stand out with among the other humans. Gods aren’t fairy godmothers or magic genies here to grant wishes. We deal in lineages. We see generations ahead. We know exactly who’s coming before that human is born. It’s in the blood who will break a curse that has been set for four, five, six or more generations. We know who will end a lineage or be a part of extending it. There’s time to play the game that humans have no idea they play a role in. Their concept of time is limited. It’s here and now but that’s not how time works.

Deals are made for descendants and it’s something that never occurs to most. A deal was made for Zora Asenath so long ago, the memory of it is barely audible on the winds of her homeland. But it’s there, in very hushed whispers between a woman in her lineage who was alone and thinking of the child she was pregnant with being born at all. The other woman that made a deal in her human form was my very own sister Queen Mother Ife Ade pleading, wrapped in her own human pain and suffering having forgotten that she herself was a god. Having forgotten why she came to Earth at all. The deal was made. Now, it has to be unmade.

And there is no such thing as a deal being unmade. It isn’t possible. Deals are sealed with secrets, blood, births, deaths, and ritual. Deals are currency. They are sealed in darkness, traded like coin, and passed down like family quilts and faded pictures.

There is one way to unmake the deal Ife doesn’t remember making. A deal requires another deal being made. Debts are what those are called in the underworld. Humans have begun to call it generational curses. It could be that but that seems so trite and trivial to call it such a thing.

If humans understood debt and the way it could be paid off in one generation, if the human would only ask, they’d realize how much power they actually have. The power to control the darkness, to rewrite the legacy of their lineage. They have the power to stop their debt from passing on to the next generation.

Maybe humans need the curse. Curses come with a super hero story line, strength, battles, and war – they break the chains, they’re now free. They need the fight of a thing. Winning is everything. Winning is life. Conquering a thing is even better. The ego is a damned and cursed darkness of consumption itself. But the curse isn’t as simple as kissing a frog that will turn into a prince. It’s not as easy as waking up after being cast into a coma because you’re beautiful and your father is the lord of the land.

Most humans aren’t all that beautiful, surely nothing to fight over, carry envy or be jealous about. No one will kill the wicked witch. Everything is the journey. Go on it and find what’s been lost. Then choose if you want to continue on the journey not knowing what more will be lost. The cause isn’t the curse. It’s all a spell. One must wake up and remember. Remember what? Everything. Then do the work. Restore what’s been lost and was good. Remember who and what you once were – become again.

The darkness has been the spell. Accepting it and the power it can be is the beginning of the deal being made. A deal is a deal and Ife made a deal to save herself when she had the tools and resources to not sacrifice a whole lineage of humans. We’re supposed to bring forth Gods. It can’t be unmade. It will never be undone. Ife trapped Asenath to the planet until she returned . Ife had no intentions of returning. The whole spirit team knew as much. They made sure she would.

She has a debt to repay, it will be paid. The unfinished business she left behind hasn’t been revealed to me just yet. I’m sure whatever it is, once I know, it might make me want to disown my own sister, whom I adore. The mother of gods. Yes. Yet, we’re no more holier than pigs, we just live longer.
